Here's an easy step by step of how to create a mixed media card.
Step #1 - The background
First of all, I sprayed an A5 piece of Bockingford Watercolour card with water. Then randomly brushed on Pink Ink's Multi Surface Paint (Aubergine Dazzle and Fuchia) then added water and splashed it until I got the look that I wanted. Once it was dry, I stamped on the Katkin Krafts Fibonacci stamp using Versamark, covered with Wow white embossing powder and applied heat with a heat gun. I then added some more Aubergine Dazzle Multi Surface Paint to create further contrast.
Step #2 - Baby Elephants
To create the elephants I used the Baby Elephants Stamp Set and stamped them out onto Bockingford Watercolour card using a VersaFine Clair ink pad in Nocturne. I then used Multi Surface Paint in Inky Blue and painted them using a watercolour effect. I cut them out once dried ready to place on the background.
Step #3 - Adding more Interest
I wanted to create more interest in the background so used one of the elements from the stamp set and a script stamp from my stash and stamped various generations using Versacraft Garnet ink pad and some more black. I then marked off a strip at the bottom with stencil tape and created a border using Aubergine Dazzle Multi Surface Paint. Then splashed on the same paint and some white. I also added some more paint to the Fibonacci to create depth. More interest was added by using the same edger element from the stamp set and stamping it along the edge of the border in black.
Step #4 - Adding The Baby Elephants
Unfortunately, I forgot to press the record button for this step, ooops, sorry!
I stamped the two baby elephants onto the background and created a shadow using a black pastel pencil around the edge of the elephants. then stuck the painted elephants on top. I added dots of gold using embossing powder and circles of old book print to further enhance the project which I then created depth by shading with the pastel pencil.
Step #5 - Final Touches
Finally, I added some circles then painted the leaves with some Multi Surface Paint in spiced pumpkin and added splashes of this after covering the elephants. All that was left to do was to add it to a card blank.
Hope you enjoyed it x
